Interpersonal Communication is “the process of exchanging messages between people whose lives mutually influence one another in unique ways in relation to social and cultural norms” (Communication in the Real World).

Describe one person in your life with whom you communicate interpersonally frequently. Explain how this definition describes your conversations with this person. Please write at least 50 words.

Communication competence is “the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in personal relationships” (Communication in the Real World)

In at least 100 words, describe a conversation you have had that was either effective and appropriate OR ineffective and inappropriate. We read this week in Communication in the Real World, section 6.1, that there are three general goals that can be met when we take part in interpersonal communication: instrumental needs, relationship-maintenance goals, and self-presentation goals.

Choose an interpersonal conversation from your own life and describe it. Explain which of the three goals you were trying to meet and how you achieved it. Make sure to use examples that are different from those given by the book.  Write your answer in complete sentences and write at least 100 words.

Interpersonal communication follows certain principles, which make it different from other types of communication.  

Choose two of the principles listed in Prezi presentation Principles of Interpersonal Communication.  Explain each principle in your own words and provide an example of how those principles apply to your own interpersonal communication. Write at least 100 words.
