6. Given the article and data tables on National Health care spending and forecast in this week’s reading, which components of health care do we spend the most dollars? And which area is the fastest growing segment?

The components of health care we spend the most dollars on is private health insurance which increased 4.2 percent to 1.2 trillion dollars in 2017. The fastest growing segment is durable medical equipment which was 54.4 billion in 2017 (“National Health Expenditures 2016,” n.d.).

1. Why is the demand for healthcare different than other economic goods?

The demand for healthcare is different than other economic goods because the resources and limited and scarce. Patients do not behave the same as regular consumers. Medical knowledge is complex and difficult for patients to obtain and understand what service is best to treat their condition/symptoms, there is an inherent interference between consumer actions (i.e. vaccines or social distancing during a viral pandemic and public health), and health insurance reduces the sensitivity of demand to price changes. Key trade-offs, such as much of healthcare should be consumed and by whom, are made in healthcare that are not made with other economic goods. (UMGC, 2020)

Another factor unique to the demand for healthcare over other goods is the increasing prevalence of preventable illness which are influenced by the choices that consumers make. One example is the increasing rates of obesity in the United States and the utilization for chronic conditions as a result of a preventable condition. From 1999-2000 through 2017-2018, the CDC estimates that the prevalence of obesity increased from 30.5% to 42.4%. Obesity is a preventable condition but also chronic obesity can increase the rate of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer. (CDC, 2020) The promotion of healthy lifestyles, including physical activity, healthy eating, non‐smoking and stress management are effective for the primary and secondary prevention of obesity and these diseases. Reducing the prevalence of obesity through a preventative versus sick care practice can “prevent the economy [from] being overwhelmed by the increasing demand for health care”. (Phillips, 2002)

Task1:Students must read the case study “McRoy Aerospace” on page 332 and answer questions 4 and 5 on page 333.

words:300

Task2:and also provide replies to below student posts each in 150

Aditya-1. What should Mark have done if Jack was as yet not ready to take care of the issue?

The relevant assessment on McRoy Aerospace, one of the central task affiliation limits has been illuminated with the Jack and Mark situation. Trust is the fundamental point of view one must do s enlarge mate. Jack managed understanding issues occurs in the midst of assignments and it was by a couple of systems not executable for him. Concurring Mark, Jack was really a potential contender to execute the wander and he will give his industry recognizing which can be done the undertaking. The considering was to have a game-plan B on the off chance that anything ends up truly. On the off chance that there is any key model using which he can re-attempt the structure. On the off chance that Jack can’t examine the issues, by then Mark must come up with any structure or someone of kind decisions, for instance, giving over the endeavor to any of potential the tank mates. He can have a genuine gathering to create new plans to make new contemplations and a whole meeting to understand the market and how to take off key changes.

2. Would it bode well for Mark to relegate this issue to another person now after Jack couldn’t take care of the issue the second time around?

In my viewpoint, it looks good since it is critical to consign the issue to someone else if one individual isn’t prepared for handling the issue. It is anything but a brilliant idea for anyone to just depend upon one individual for a long time to address the issue. Despite the fact that Mark gives out a comparative issue to another individual, it doesn’t mean the principle individual couldn’t work on a comparable issue. In the event that in any event, one individual tackles a comparative issue, by then there might be a chance to decide the issue considering the way that once in a while two minds work better on a comparable issue instead of one character. After Jack endeavored twice and not prepared to decide, Mark must find a pro around there who can deal with this kind of challenge. As an endeavor chief, one needs to endeavor every likelihood and necessity to work with open advantages to deal with the issue.

sushil-Question 4

Jack was generally the best in performing the task and its noted by Mark acknowledging he would never even imagine one coming close to solving the problem. In the event that Jack was unable to solve the challenging problem Mark would have been devastating and choosing someone else to carry on with the project was the last thing he would ever have thought of. Jack was a performer, highly skilled and with no doubt other engineers and designers had lost hope that it could not be done. He strongly believed that if it’s to be done then its only Jack who would manage. Therefore, if Jack could not be able to resolve the problem jack ought to have pulled out of the project and render it impossible because trusting another party wouldn’t be possible and considering the nature of work involved in a condition that a shoddy work is produced will render the reputation of the company at stake and customer trust would also go down.

Question 5

Jack spent almost two months trying to fix the problem and was unable to resolve it. The successful completion of the task project would mean a value-added opportunity for Aerospace company. Both customers and stakeholders would make an incredible transformation from a cost and efficiency standpoint. McRoy would then be seen as a business leader in life-cycle costing, and this could make a great difference in finding the clients to buy commercial planes from McRoy Aerospace. The problem was to be solved in order to spend less on inventory and spare parts purchase. In the event Jack could not work things out the second time it was only better to maintain the status quo rather than engage somebody else who lacked ideas on what is required and would have rendered it futile, expenses would go and the situation would have worsened from normal to worst. It would only be better to continue with the old designer doors that were operated manually to avoid unnecessary costs and thoughts.

data analysis and business analytics assignments and discussion

WEEK 5 ASSIGNMENT (APPLY: REGRESSION MODELING)

The Excel file for this assignment contains a database with information about the tax assessment value assigned to medical office buildings in a city. The following is a list of the variables in the database:

  • FloorArea: square feet of floor space
  • Offices: number of offices in the building
  • Entrances: number of customer entrances
  • Age: age of the building (years)
  • AssessedValue: tax assessment value (thousands of dollars)

Use the data to construct a model that predicts the tax assessment value assigned to medical office buildings with specific characteristics.

  • Construct a scatter plot in Excel with FloorArea as the independent variable and AssessmentValue as the dependent variable. Insert the bivariate linear regression equation and r^2 in your graph. Do you observe a linear relationship between the 2 variables?
  • Use Excel’s Analysis ToolPak to conduct a regression analysis of FloorArea and AssessmentValue. Is FloorArea a significant predictor of AssessmentValue?
  • Construct a scatter plot in Excel with Age as the independent variable and AssessmentValue as the dependent variable. Insert the bivariate linear regression equation and r^2 in your graph. Do you observe a linear relationship between the 2 variables?
  • Use Excel’s Analysis ToolPak to conduct a regression analysis of Age and Assessment Value. Is Age a significant predictor of AssessmentValue?

Construct a multiple regression model.

  • Use Excel’s Analysis ToolPak to conduct a regression analysis with AssessmentValue as the dependent variable and FloorArea, Offices, Entrances, and Age as independent variables. What is the overall fit r^2? What is the adjusted r^2?
  • Which predictors are considered significant if we work with α=0.05? Which predictors can be eliminated?
  • What is the final model if we only use FloorArea and Offices as predictors?
  • Suppose our final model is:
  • AssessedValue = 115.9 + 0.26 x FloorArea + 78.34 x Offices
  • What wouldbe the assessed value of a medical office building with a floor area of 3500 sq. ft., 2 offices, that was built 15 years ago? Is this assessed value consistent with what appears in the database?

WEEK 6 DISCUSSION

Time series are particularly useful to track variables such as revenues, costs, and profits over time. Time series models help evaluate performance and make predictions. Consider the following and respond in a minimum of 175 words:

  • Time series decomposition seeks to separate the time series (Y) into 4 components: trend (T), cycle (C), seasonal (S), and irregular (I). What is the difference between these components?
  • The model can be additive or multiplicative. When we do use an additive model? When do we use a multiplicative model?
  • The following list gives the gross federal debt(in millions of dollars) for the U.S. every 5 years from 1945 to 2000:

Year Gross Federal Debt ($millions)

1945 260,123

1950 256,853

1955 274,366

1960 290,525

1965 322,318

1970 380,921

1975 541,925

1980 909,050

1985 1,817,521

1990 3,206,564

1995 4,921,005

2000 5,686,338

  • Construct a scatter plot with this data. Do you observe a trend? If so, what type of trend do you observe?
  • Use Excel to fit a linear trend and an exponential trend to the data. Display the models and their respective r^2.
  • Interpret both models. Which model seems to be more appropriate? Why?

WEEK 6 ASSIGNMENT (APPLY: SMART PARKING SPACE APP PRESENTATION)

Scenario: A city’s administration isn’t driven by the goal of maximizing revenues or profits but instead looks at improving the quality of life of its residents. Many American cities are confronted with high traffic and congestion. Finding parking spaces, whether in the street or a parking lot, can be time consuming and contribute to congestion. Some cities have rolled out data-driven parking space management to reduce congestion and make traffic more fluid.

You’re a data analyst working for a mid-size city that has anticipated significant increments in population and car traffic. The city is evaluating whether it makes sense to invest in infrastructure to count and report the number of parking spaces available at the different parking lots downtown. This data would be collected and processed in real-time, feeding an app that motorists can access to find parking space availability in different parking lots throughout the city.

Instructions: Work with the provided Excel database. This database has the following columns:

  • LotCode: A unique code that identifies the parking lot
  • LotCapacity: A number with the respective parking lot capacity
  • LotOccupancy: A number with the current number of cars in the parking lot
  • TimeStamp: A day/time combination indicating the moment when occupancy was measured
  • Day: The day of the week corresponding to the TimeStamp
  • Insert a new column, OccupancyRate, recording occupancy rate as a percentage with one decimal. For instance, if the current LotOccupancy is 61 and LotCapacity is 577, then the OccupancyRate would be reported as 10.6 (or 10.6%).
  • Using the OccupancyRate and Day columns, construct box plots for each day of the week. You can use Insert > Insert Statistic Chart >Box and Whisker for this purpose. Is the median occupancy rate approximately the same throughout the week? If not, which days have lower median occupancy rates? Which days have higher median occupancy rates? Is this what you expected?
  • Using the OccupancyRate and LotCode columns, construct box plots for each parking lot. You can use Insert > Insert Statistic Chart >Box and Whisker for this purpose. Do all parking lots experience approximately equal occupancy rates? Are some parking lots more frequented than others? Is this what you expected?
  • Select any 2 parking lots. For each one, prepare as catter plot showing occupancy rate against TimeStamp for the week 11/20/2016 –11/26/2016. Are occupancy rates time dependent? If so, which times seem to experience highest occupancy rates? Is this what you expected?

Presentation:

Create a 10- to 12-slide presentation with speaker notes and audio. Your audience is the City Council members who are responsible for deciding whether the city invests in resources to set in motion the smart parking space app.

Complete the following in your presentation:

  • Outline the rationale and goals of the project.
  • Utilize boxplots showing the occupancy rates for each day of the week. Include your interpretation of results.
  • Utilize box plots showing the occupancy rates for each parking lot. Include your interpretation of results.
  • Provide scatter plots showing occupancy rate against time of day of your selected four parking lots. Include your interpretation of results.
  • Make a recommendation about continuing with the implementation of this project.
